According to current audition notices, Stage Entertainment plans to bring “Ghost” the musical to Berlin. The show is based on the 1990 film of the same name with Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg.

Ghost originally opened in Manchester in 2011 before transferring to the West End for a 500 performance run at the Piccadilly Theatre. In April 2012 the show opened on Broadway with the original West End leads Richard Fleshman and Caissie Levy reprising their roles of Sam and Molly. Ghost is currently touring the UK and will be performed in German for the first time at the Landestheater Linz in March.

As the movie was very successful I assume everyone is familiar with the story, but here’s a short summery of the plot for you:
Sam and Molly are madly in love and just moved into a new apartment. But one night the worst happens: Sam gets shot during a robbery. While Molly griefs her lost love, Sam returns as a ghost, caught between worlds, and finds out that Molly is in danger too..

I sadly never managed to see Ghost in the West End, so I never got to see the big scale production with all the special effects. But I got to see the show at the Englisch Theatre in Frankfurt with Hannah Grover as Molly and Aaron Sitwell as Carl. And even though the production in Frankfurt was obviously smaller considering the theatre size compared to the West End, I fell in love with the show. I felt disappointed after seeing the current UK tour in Manchester in October which was mostly due to Sarah Harding as Molly and it kind of ruined the show for me a bit. But nevertheless I’m very curious about the upcoming production in Berlin – especially as I won’t make it to Linz. I’m just not sure what to think of the German song translations but we’ll see. 🙂
